Our current product is software that supports a medical device. Parts of the software are considered FDA regulated. Up to this point (10+ years) the product has been delivered on Windows devices developed using C++.
We are now targeting support for iOS and / or Android. We are considering Xamarin.Forms w/ Prism.
Our in-house skills mostly include C++, C#, WPF/XAML and Prism.
We reach out to an outside consulting group and they are suggested React Native. Some of the input from them is that Xamarin has too many bugs, Xamarin is too small and niche and that .js coders are easy to find.
One of the consultants knows .js and may be biased pushing React Native. However, I have my own biases as I come from the CAB->EL->Prism world.
It’s a big decision for us and I feel like so far people around the office are just Google Xamarin V React Native and getting results on just what advertisers want to push.
I realized this may not be the most unbiased forum, but could I at least get some points as to way Xamarin is a viable option?
Any feedback / Advise from people that know both these technologies would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Phil
