Xaminal example tabs and flyout

I'm trying out Shell for the first time and I'm trying to replicate the flyout and bottom page "tab" navigation present in the Xaminals example.
I've managed to get the flyout working with navigation, but I can't see how the "navigation" tabs/icons along the bottom of the screens is implemented.
Can anyone give me some pointers?
